A psychrophile is a cold - loving
organism, including the extreme of fish that have
antifreeze for blood (or, rather,
glycerol in the
blood to supress ice crystals). Although we might think the problem is freezing, it is more that things that are stable at RT are not at lower
temperatures - there are sequence differences that compensate for the difference in stability.
