puppy pile

"Puppy pile" is raver jargon for a pile of people on ecstasy. Ecstasy heightens sense of touch and lowers inhibition, among other effects. As a result, the pleasure of large amounts of tactile stimulation (especially skin, which is probably feeding some deeply-rooted psychological need) will often lead groups of ecstasy users to lie down together in groups.

Actaully, a puppy pile is *any* random group of four or so, or more people all snuggled and collapsed together. Reasons can include watching a movie with not enough places to sit comfortably], the end result of a tickle war, or simply wanting a warm and soft headrest. Puppy piles are wonderful things... it's a very comfortable feeling to be curled around people you trust and can let yourself get close enough to to let your guard down. Generally happy things...
