Medical term meaning opaque to X-rays.

Radiopaque objects show up clearly as bright white areas on x-ray film; eg. needles, coins or other foreign objects.

Radiopaque coatings can be applied to catheters and microsurgical guidewires to aid the surgeon using them. Radiopaque dye is another term for contrast medium, injected into tissues or body cavities to show motion and flow on a fluoroscope.
