Random Number Generation is a song from the stage production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. The full version of this song does not appear in the movie, but it can be heard playing on MTV in the background when Yitzak and Hedwig are talking in their motel room, before Tommy Gnosis comes on with his number one hit single, Tear Me Down.

Like a good amount of the music in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, this song has a punkish feel to it. It is a bit harsher than many of the other songs, mostly due to the strong eastern European accent Yitzak sings with, and the anger and intensity e delivers throughout the production.

This song appears on the Original Cast Recording, but is not found on the Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Random Number Generation
Performed by Miriam Shor, lyrics by Stephen Trask, music by Cheater.

all our feelings and thoughts
expressed in ones and in oughts
in endless spiraling chains
you can't decode or explain
cause you are so analog
god dog I eye I god dog

we're the random number generation
we are random number generated
we are random numbers

in the regime of the solid state
wheels spin when you iterate
k is x squared minus one
but .54321
when x is taken times two
that's when we're coming for you

we're the random number generation
we are random number generated
we are random numbers

Mister Little started something huge
Iggy Pop Iggy Stooge
all the children shout out,
hey here we are

we're the random number generation
we are random number generated
we are random numbers
