Recon sweeps are probes to gather intelligence. Military recon sweeps are composed of highly trained and tested select individuals working as a covert element. Most recon sweeps are passive, as both the operators and their military do not want to make the enemy forces aware of their presence. Quite unfortunate is that the American military only performs fire-recon, where the operators act as much as soldiers as they do intelligence gathering probes. As shown by the NVA and the VC, passive recon sweeps are able to learn more about the enemy without endangering the operators or upcoming military plans. While the DIA, CNS, and MI agencies use passive recon perfectly, it is never used to its best potential in the time of war.
