A sitcom "turn" is a writing device used by tv sitcom writers. As described by Friends producer Alexia Young, it basically goes something like this: opposition-bribe-acceptance. She pointed out that every show does it, but the bad ones do it a lot.

Here is an example:

INT. APARTMENT - NIGHT

A man and a woman are having a romantic evening at home. They are sitting at a table by candlelight.

MAN

I will not go golfing with you father - it's boring and painful. Never ever --

The woman stands as he continues talking.

MAN
(continues)

-- ever would I put my self through --

Cut to:

A shot of the woman from behind (unless of course this is airing in Europe). She drops whatever clothing she has on to the floor.

The man has a stupid grin on his face.

Cut to:

EXT. GOLF COURSE - DAY

The man and the woman's father are standing at the first tee.
