U.S. Army acronym for Special Operations Group. During the Vietnam War, when the NVA and the Viet Cong were moving supplies down through Laos and Cambodia but the U.S. was not officially at war with those nations, SOGs were sometimes sent across the border to disrupt these supply chains (see Secret War).
