Strathclyde University is a 200-year-old university in the center of Glasgow, Scotland. It has somewhere in the region of 18000 students.

The University was founded in 1796 by John Anderson as Anderson's Institution. In his will he left instructions that an institution be started for 'the Good of Mankind and the Improvement of Science - a place of useful learning.'

The University proper was created by Royal Charter in 1964 by a merging of the Royal College of Science and Technology and the Scottish College of Commerce.

Later, in 1993, the University also took on Jordanhill College of Education to become the Faculty of Education.

The University is physically split into two campuses - the John Anderson Campus in the city centre of Glasgow and the Jordanhill Campus in the west end of the city.
