A puff pastry shell (though traditionally made with a special flatter strudel pastry similar to phyllo) with a sweet fruit filling, often apples or apples mixed with berries, but almost any fruit and many savory fillings can and have been used. Strudel originates and is immensely popular in Germany and Austria and points surrounding.
