Tandem subordination occurs when you attach many subordinate clauses onto a sentence. It often leads to awkward sounding sentences, and should be avoided wherever possible.

Example (subordinating clauses are in italics): It has been firmly estasblished that EDB, who is a hungry bastard, thinks we are all tasty morsels of goodness who don't mind that we have to live in fear of his insatiable apetite, which pervades over all of our activity.

There are four subordinate clauses in that sentence. Baaaad.
