Tat"ter (?), n. [Icel. totur, tottur, pl. totrar, ottrar; cf. Norw. totra, pl. totror, LG. taltern tatters. 240.]

A rag, or a part torn and hanging; -- chiefly used in the plural.

Tear a passion to tatters, to very rags. Shak.
