A technology (US Patent #5723765) developed by the USDA (US Department of Agriculture) along with Monsanto to prevent poor farmers from saving seed and thus making pirate copies of Monsanto genetically engineered crops.
A product of everyone's favorite GEO manufacturer, Monsanto. What the gene does is prevent the plant from pollinating or producing seeds, thus forcing the farmers, who would have used last year's seeds, to run back to Monsanto.
