The Higher Cause, or
thc, is the
University of Canterbury legalise
cannabis club, essentially a division of
NORML New Zealanad, though there are no coordinational ties between the two organisations.
They advocate a regulated market with no advertising, allowances for people to grow marijuana for personal use, and an age limit for users, preferably about 18 (in line with alcohol law). Also, they believe that the extra revenue that the government gains through the taxation of the new market should be used for drug-resistance education and rehabilitation, acknowledging that there are people out there who have problems dealing with their cannabis usage, but that those people are outnumbered easily by the responsible users criminalised by the law (as it stands at the date of noding).
