A toaster oven uses one-third to one-half
less energy than a
conventional oven-- approximately from 1350 to 1500 watts, whereas an electric range oven can use more than 3500 watts of electricity. Its small size means it can
preheat in half the time of a full-sized oven.
Useful for cooking single serving meals. Helpful for browning, broiling, and toasting
small foods, like
nuts,
herbs,
baked potatoes, garlic

Safety tip: Keep the crumb tray clean. If something in your toaster oven catches fire, and it probably will (drippings and crumbs often fall down next to a heating element), do not open the toaster oven door. Unplug the machine, and wait for the fire to go out.
