Job title of the people who, along with the directors, generally do most of the creative design work in the Japanese game industry. Oddly, game fans often wrongly place the credit or blame for even small details of games on famous producers involved with them such as Shigeru Miyamoto or Hironobu Sakaguchi, who are justly respected for their large body of work but usually supervise multiple projects at a time and aren't heavily involved in the day-to-day decisions of any given one. What makes this all the more odd is that in interviews many of these producers are upfront about the nature of their role and give credit to the planners and directors, but for some reason their fans choose to ignore them.
