Literally, "foreign tongue." Similar to glossolalia in its relationship to prayer and chanting, xenolalia was a term used to refer to prayer made in a language not known by the one making the prayer. In Christianity, xenolalia was supposed to be more impressive than glossolalia, as God is teaching the worshipper a new tongue.

Of course, xenolalia is pretty easy to fake, if you're at all bilingual. Glossolalia, on the other hand, is more difficult; it's gibberish, sure, but only gibberish that follows certain linguistic rules can be elevated to the status of glossolalia.
