Actually, Shibuya is the name of the whole ward with close to a million inhabitants, but the word is most often used to mean the area around the station. As an earlier but accidentally deleted writeup described it, Shibuya is what you get if you take the opening scene from Blade Runner and take out the flying bits: there are actually at least three of those huge screens that display commercials around the clock.
