Arguably the worst possible chess opening. Characterized by the move 1.g4 this is considered a bad move because it (1) opens up the kingside (2) does nothing for development (3) does nothing about controlling the center. The only good thing about it is that it is often very unfamilar to most opponents and can sometimes catch them off guard. This opening was popularized by an International Master named Grob. He used this opening almost exclusively (even in correspondence play).
