Window Random Access Memory is an enhanced, higher-speed type of
VRAM which is used in the
Matrox Millenium series of video cards and a few others. Its theoretical max speed is 960 MB/second, as opposed to 625 MB/second for
VRAM or 225 MB/second for
DRAM.
Like VRAM, WRAM is dual-ported, meaning that it can be read and written to simultaneously.
It is less expensive to manufacture than VRAM, and probably would be more widely used in video cards today except that SDRAM is much cheaper.
