In 1892, the mint introduced the Barber Quarter Dollar to replace the previously used Seated Liberty Quarter. The coin's namesake designer, Charles E. Barber, designed the coin with Lady Liberty on the obverse, facing right. She wears a laural wreath and Liberty cap, and a ribbon ties her hair behind her neck. "IN GOD WE TRUST" arcs slightly just above her head, and the year of minting appears at the bottom. 13 stars appear on the obverse, with six on the left and seven on the right.
The coin's reverse depicts an eagle holding a ribbon within its beak, stamped with the phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Thirteen stars are speckled above the eagle's head, and the eagle is clutching an olive branch in the right claw, and thirteen arrows in the left claw. "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" arcs along the top of the coin reverse, and "QUARTER DOLLAR" along the bottom.
This coin had no design modifications, and was replaced in 1916.
