The title for Atom Heart Mother comes from the band's lack to find any other title for it. One day, the band was looking at the newspaper after the album had been mostly recorded and found on the front page the headline:
Nuclear drive for woman's heart
The story was about a woman who had a pace-maker implanted in her and it was powered atomically. Roger Waters said, That's a nice name. We'll call it that. Atom Heart Mother. " Thus, the title, Atom Heart Mother!
