Jim Groat is a comic artist most well-known for his series Red Shetland, a anthropomorphic (or furry) Red Sonja parody.

He spent most of his formative years in Arizona and now resides in Madison, WI, with his wife, Rebekah, and their son, in a house that was built in 1923 and could really use a new roof.

A syndicated cartoonist from 1979-1981 with the strip MuddFlatt, he and Richard Konkle formed GraphXpress Comics in 1985. Their first book, Uncivilized, was then followed by Morphs. In 1989, Red Shetland, their flagship title was released.

Jim is also a participant on FurryMuck and pens the (mostly) weekly web comic West Corner of the Park, which parodies FurryMuck participants and events, such as the Vixenator.

Attending conventions quite often, he is notorious for his outright hatred of Smurfs, Barney, Pokemon and all things "cute."

His hobbies include firearms, military hardware, and herpetology, and he's active with the Historical Re-enactment Society, a WWII group, as a member of the 30th Division, 119th Regiment.
