Unofficial fan club of United States national soccer team (generally the men's team; but women's as well).

From the club "charter", the purpose of Sam's Army is "to show that our team is not a 3rd rate organization which has no fan support".

This generally involves fans singing and chanting in unison and showing up to games in red clothing.

The success has been limited. At some U.S. games, there's a sizable loud fan presence, but there's still a long way to go to having a loud fan base like that of other nations.

Was formed around the time of the U.S. Cup in 1995 (shortly after the 1994 World Cup that took place in the United States).

The name "Sam's Army" is a reference to Uncle Sam, a symbol of the United States.
