She hurries out the door most mornings
dashes off to the daily grind
But, I see her

wine tinted oval on folded tissue
that didn't quite make it into the bathroom trash

and smudged lipstick on the rim of her favorite coffee mug
there's a golden sun rising behind purple mountains

a puckered mouth imprinted on our daughter's forehead - still
as she sleepily eats cheerios in Barbie p.j.'s

and one more lip print on a yellow post it note
stuck to a carefully wrapped roast beef sandwich with all the fixins
that I pull out of my brown paper bag at lunch time

"I'm thinking of you"
