This classic top ten single first appeared on Dave Mason's Album, Let It Flow, released in April, 1977. It is probably Dave Mason's biggest hit. Jim Krueger released it himself on his own album Sweet Salvation a year later.

Been away,
Haven't seen you in a while.
How've you been?
Have you changed your style? And do you think
that we've grown up differently?

It don't seem the same.
Seems you've lost your feel for me.

So let's leave it alone
'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy.
There ain't no bad guy.
There's only you and me, and we just disagree.

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh, oh, oh

I'm going back
to a place that's far away.
How 'bout you?
Have you got a place to stay? Why should I care
when I'm just tryin' to get along?
We were friends.
But now it's the end of our love song.

So let's leave it alone
'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy.
There ain't no bad guy.
There's only you and me, and we just disagree.

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh, oh, oh

So let's leave it alone
'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy
there ain't no bad guy
There's only you and me and we just disagree

Ooh, ooh, ooh
Oh, oh, oh

The ending of any relationship is hard. The endless circles of who is to blame that started before the disintegration, in many cases, tend to continue long after the split has occurred. He says this, she says that. Who is right? Who is wrong? Battle lines are drawn in an unwinable war. It is sad mostly when something that once was so right, has gone so terribly wrong. The constant battles are tiring, wearing down both parties. Neither partner really seeing or knowing any longer how the other feels.

This song gets to that, to the heart of the matter. He is saying "Hey, why don't we just agree to disagree and move on?". He still cares, though he questions it. He is wistful of once upon a time. Mostly, he is just tired and wants the fighting to stop.

There's only you and me and we just disagree...
