A strain of
E.coli commonly used in
lab work to amplify some
protein you want produced in large ammounts. The construction of this strain is rather clever since it apart from the protein you make it produce also expresses a
lysozyme which after freeze-thawing the bacteria results in their
lysis.
Yes, this is intelligent but I still feel as if were exploiting the poor coli, cheating it into producing a substance which ultimately will lead to its own destruction. Lets just say I´m glad I don´t have to experiment on animals.
