Traditional Chinese holiday that celebrates the moon at its largest phase. There is a legend behind the festival regarding a stricken couple heading for the moon to avoid the wrath of relatives, but I forgot the exact details. If you do remember the story please do a writeup. Thanks!

To me, the highlight of the holiday is the mooncakes, they are basically baked pastries with a LOT of lotus cream inside. Extremely tasty. Also fun are the thousands of lanterns lit at night.

Oh yeah you also get a day off school. A big plus.
