• Carl Bosch
  German chemist whose main field of work was in industrial chemical processes.
• Robert Bunsen
  Inventor of the ice calorimeter and co-inventor of the spectroscope, Bunsen did not invent Bunsen burner.
• Henry Cavendish
  A somewhat eccentric scientist, Cavendish is credited with the discovery of hydrogen.
• Marie Curie
  Born to a poor Polish family, Marie Curie nonetheless became one of France's most outstanding scientists, winning two Nobel prizes.

• Emil Fischer

  French Nobel Prize winner for his work on organic chemistry.
• Otto Hahn
  Co-discoverer of protactinium, with Lise Meitner. Their later experiments together with Fritz Strassman, bombarding uranium with neutrons, led to the discovery of nuclear fission.
• Adam Hart-Davis
  Chemist, biographer of scientists and infectiously enthusiastic presenter of science programmes for the BBC.
• Roald Hoffman
  Nobel laureate and presenter of the video series 'The World of Chemistry'.
• Iréne Joliot-Curie
  Daughter of Pierre and Marie Curie, Iréne continued her parents' research into radioactivity along with her husband Frédéric.
• Martin Heinrich Klaproth
  Devourer of writeups, Klaproth was also a successful scientist before acheiving immortality on E2.
• Walter Kohn
  Joint winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, with John Pople (see below).
• Irving Langmuir
  Explained the valence state of electrons and ionic bonding, invented the gas-filled incandescent lamp. Won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1932.
• Antoine Lavoisier
  Lavoisier was the first person to give any sort of scientific explanation of fire, and discovered oxygen in the process.
• Primo Levi
  Although best remembered for his contributions to literature, Levi's background as a chemist informed his writing and helped him to survive Auschwitz.
• Justus Liebig
  German chemist and teacher, who created the first modern laboratory.
• Dmitri Mendeleev
  Sometimes known as the father of modern chemistry, Mendeleev devised the first table of elements to be based on the periodic occurance of certain chemical properties.
• Kary B. Mullis
  Joint winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993, for his discovery of the polymerase chain reaction.
• Linus Pauling
  Two-time Nobel prize winner and inventor of the perm, Pauling's most fundamental contributions to Chemistry were in the field of atomic and molecular bonding.
• John Pople
  Winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, for his computational techniques and contributions to quantum chemistry.
• Michael Smith
  Joint winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993, for his discovery of site-directed mutagenesis.
• Ahmed Zewail
  Egyptian Nobel laureate known for his pioneering work on femtosecond molecular spectroscopy.
