Colombian auto racing superstar. He is one of the new generation of drivers who, in the mold of Ayrton Senna have come up through Karting. He won the FIA Formula 3000 championship in 1998. In 1999, driving for Target Chip Ganassi racing, he became the youngest ever CART FedEx series champion during his rookie year. The following year he won the 2000 Indy 500 on his first try, the first rookie to do so since Graham Hill in 1966. In 2001 he moved across the Atlantic to the BMW Williams Formula 1 outfit to try for the F1 world championship. He is the latest F1 driver to be hyped as the next Ayrton Senna, and while he has a long way to go to live up to that, he certainly seems to be one of the best to come along in a while. Known for his aggressive driving style, he has a seemingly natural talent for racing and is one of those drivers for whom the laws of physics seem to be less strictly enforced than usual.
