1) A divinity of the Sabini, identified with Apollo, worshipped on Mt. Soracte. Virgil writes of his followers walking bare-footed through fire.

2) A physician of the "Methodist" school. Born in Ephesus, he went to Alexandria and then to Rome, where he practised medicine during the reigns of the Emperors Trajan and Hadrian. He wrote textbooks, most famously on gynaecology, some of which are still extant.
