The get-out is the period after a
play,
concert, or other kind of
show, during which everything is
removed, and tidied up. Depending on the size of the
show, this can be anything from a
few hours up to
week (the longest I've done has been 3 days)
In the case of
theatre, the get-out should be carefully
coordinated between the
stage manager,
chief electrician, and
sound engineer, so that they all know what the others are doing, and can plan their job so that the whole get-out can go as
quickly as possible.
Normally by this stage of a
production, everyone involved is very
tired, so it is
important not to rush a get-out, as
accidents could occur.
At the other end of the
show is the
get-in, which is done before the
show opens.
