The University of California at Davis is the largest UC school, in both number of students (around 30,000 ) and land area (including extensive experimental agricultural areas). The school specializes in biology, has an excellent veterinary school, extensive agricultural research, and also much of the recent research in ecology comes from here. It is set in Davis, a town about 10 miles to the west of Sacramento. The town is known for its liberal nature and abundance of bicycles.
