Apparently the third-largest city in Indiana, Evansville is tucked away (out of mind and out of sight) in the state's southwestern corner. The city of around 200,000 is the largest city in the United States not served directly by a mainline interstate (Interstate 64 is about fifteen miles north of the city, and there is now Interstate 164 on its eastern edge. The city is also on the Ohio River where the big annual event is Thunder on the Ohio, a boat race. The University of Evansville and University of Southern Indiana are both there. It is the county seat of Vanderburgh County, Indiana.
