Oath of Office for the President of the United States

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of the President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the United States."

The Presidential Oath of Office is conducted by the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court on the West Portico of the Capitol on Inaguration Day (January 20). The President-Elect puts his left hand on the Holy Bible, raises his right and recites the text in Article II, Section I, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution.
