Virgina Woolf novel published in 1927, in her typical
stream of consciousness style. Some say this is the only
book of hers in which anything actually
happens. It is written in three parts, about the Ramsay family and their guests at their home. The characters are very
reflective of their relationships and
roles. Much detail is spent describing the
thoughts and
memories of each character.
"Such was the complexity of things. For what happened to her, especially staying with the Ramsays, was to be made to feel violently two opposite things are the same time; that's what you feel, was one; that's what I feel was the other, and then they fought together in her mind, as now."
