An imaginary line which bisects the body vertically. When two people are fighting, the plane formed by the center line of both. Commonly used in wing chun and other martial arts. According to the philosophy of these fighting styles, victory goes to whoever controls the center line. Whoever controls the center line controls a direct line to their opponent’s center. They have the inside line, the quickest avenue of attack and defense. Most of the major organs and the front of the face (an excellent target in unarmed combat) are behind the center line, making it the best spot to aim attacks.
