Gauge: A size measurement used in
shotguns. A gauge is determined by the number of
lead spheres the
diameter of a
shotgun barrel that weigh one
pound.
Example: If a shotgun barrel was found to hold 12 lead spheres that weighed one pound, it would be a 12-gauge shotgun.
