A concept of relevance in the nature versus nurture debate.
Consider this; a child born to a musically gifted parent, grows up to be musically gifted. Is this because the child has inherited a disposition for music from the parent, or because the child was raised in an environment where an interest in music was encouraged?
The concept is of wider application as individuals not only posses certain hereditary inclinations but they also gravitate towards environments that suit those inclinations, and so genes tend to create an environment in which they will succeed.
Hence "heritability measured at the level of biology reacts with the environment to increase heritability measured at the level of behaviour".
