Obviously this is the green of the ocean, but what exactly does that mean? After all ocean waters can be many different shades of green, from the dark almost black of stormy day to the light tones of a shallow sea on a sunny day. All contain tones of blue since that is the color of empty waters and the green comes from the life of algae.

Dictionaries describe it as either a moderate green or bluish green, whatever that might mean. And almost every time I see an emerald described sea green will come into it somewhere. Though what then is an emerald green? To add even more confusion the stone aquamarine is described as either sea green or sea blue.

Generally it would seem that a sea green has more green than blue and at least as light as a forest green.. Beyond that, it is all individual opinion.
