Today the United States Postal Service is raising its rates. The last rate increase occurred in 2002.

• First class letter (1 oz) = $0.39 (was $0.37)
• First class letter (2 oz) = $0.63 (was $0.60)
• Postcard = $0.24 (was $0.23)
• Priorty mail (1 lb) = $4.05 (was $3.85)
• Express mail (0.5 lb) = $14.40 (was $13.65)
• Express mail (2 lb) = $18.80 (was $17.85)
• Certified mail = $2.40 (was $2.30)
• Delivery confirmation (Priority mail) = $0.50 (was $0.45)
• Delivery confirmation (First class parcels) = $0.60 (was $0.55)
• Return receipt (original signature) = $1.85 (was $1.75)
• Return receipt (electronic) = $1.35 (was $1.30)
• Money orders = $0.95 (was $0.90)

Since I play about 20 games of postal chess at any given time, these rate increases mean that I may have to pay an extra hundred cents per month for my habit. Woe is me.
