1939- American Comic, member of the Firesign Theatre.

Education began at Yale, directed theater as a Eugene O'Neill Playwriting Fellow at the Yale School of Drama. He also collaborated in London with British comic deities Spike Milligan and Peter Cook.

After moving to California, he produced a nightly radio magazine in Los Angeles which he hosted. It was on that show that had formed the FireSign Theatre, a four man comedy theater group that over the past twenty five years has produced twenty albums, twice nominated for an Emmy, three films, two books and a series of national tours.

The other memebers of Firesign include: Phil Proctor, David Ossman and Phil Austin. He produced an album with Proctor listed as "Proctor and Bergman".
