After several students spent several days sitting patiently on several million blades of grass, the Zen Master came back to ask them for their answers to his question: Who is the Great One who makes the grass green?

One student said hesitantly, "I am?"
The Master looked at him sternly and said, effectively, "Oh yeah? And who is that 'I' you're talking about?" The student promptly went back to meditating.

Another student said calmly, "I am", and again the Zen Master questioned him, "Who is that 'I' you're talking about?"
"There is only one I," the student replied. And the Zen Master let him go home.
