A pleasing entry from the
St. Supery winery in
Napa Valley, California. I've been unable to determine what type of
grape blend they use (though by the laws governing the labeling of
varietals, at least 75% of the wine must be merlot grapes from Napa Valley), but I suspect there's a good amount of
Cabernet Sauvingon in the mix.
It is a delicious wine, permeated with strong (but not too strong) berry tastes. It was somewhat tannic, though in reasonable measure, with a good finish. I bought a bottle for about $17, and I plan to hold onto it for at least a year, but no more than two. I believe it would be a good complement to lighter meals featuring fruit or fresh vegetables.
