Acronym for "going private" or "gone private." It is used in
multiplayer gaming (especialy in
RTS games, such as
StarCraft) when
teamplay is involved. Saying
GP means that the player is now changing his
communcation settings to transmit only to members of his
team; it is usually the last communication between
opponents until the
end of the game (see:
GG).
GP is often used in tandem with
GL. I.E.: "
GL GP" for
Good luck, going private.
