Like the jungle cat, the Chinese desert cat has been given an inappropriate name; it lives on steppes and in forests of the mountains of China, in many of the same areas as the giant panda. There is some argument as to whether it is a subspecies of the wildcat or its own species (which would be Felis bieti). It has yellowish-gray fur, including tufts growing between the pads of its feet and at the tips of its ears, and darker rings around its tail. It is slightly bigger than a domestic cat. Nothing is really known about its behavior and diet in the wild.
