Paul Auster (person)

Paul Auster was born on February 3rd 1947 in Newark, NJ, and grown up to be one of my favourite authors of all times.

Graduating from Coloumbia University in 1970, Auster moved to France where he worked as a translator of French writers. While there, he also published his own works in local American magazines.

In 1978, after working some time on an oil tanker, Auster has earned his first critical and commercial success, with 'The New York Trilogy', a collection of three great stories. After the success of the trilogy, Auster turned to writing novels. And Autobiographies. And Film Scripts. And Poetry.

With much similarity to Woody Allen films, Auster's books carry a very urbanic theme, and often intertwine with the metropolis that is New York City.
