shitless, literally or not. Derives from that white-knuckle state during which one either mutters, "
God save me..." or screams "Fuck, Fuck Fuck!!!" Other symptoms of being 'gripped' include 1) doing the
Elvis (a bad case of the shakes) 2) forgetting to breath 3) breathing waaay too much, or 4) swearing on your
mother's grave you'll never climb again.
Said with a white face, "Dude, I was gripped."
