Hyde Park (place)

A neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. Most famous as the home of the University of Chicago. With a mix of owner-occupied houses and large rental apartment blocks, Hyde Park is home to a mixed-income, ethnically diverse community.

Notable features include:

• The Museum of Science and Industry at 57th Street and Lake Shore Drive
• Midway Plaisance, which served as the midway of the 1893 Columbian Exposition and is now home to numberless football and ultimate frisbee games (plus ice skating when it gets cold enough)
• Stagg Field, the site of the first artificial nuclear chain reaction.
• Harold's Chicken Shack, greasing the wheels of academia since I don't know when.
