Republican Senator from Kentucky

Mitch McConnell was born February 20, 1942, in South Louisville. He was College of Arts and Sciences student body president at the University of Louisville where he his Bachelor’s degree. He then attended the University of Kentucky's College of Law where he was the president of the Student Bar Association.

McConnell’s worked as an intern for Senator John Sherman Cooper, then as chief legislative assistant to Senator Marlow Cook. He was deputy assistant attorney general under President Gerald R. Ford. McConnell served as County Judge-Executive in Jefferson County, Kentucky from 1978 to 1984.

McConnel’s wife Elaine L. Chao is currently the Secretary of Labor. They have three daughters: Elly, Claire, and Porter. Committees:
