Sorry, but to say of the
metric system that "its only
utility comes from the fact that it is more widely used" is just incorrect.
The principal utility of the metric system, regardless of who uses it, is its uniform base of ten for all units, which vastly simplifies both calculations and conversions.
I would much prefer my pharmacist to be measuring out my nitroglycerin in grams per liter than grains per peck, thankyouverymuch.
